Beginning in 1915, the dam of Praire Du Sac was began and was completed in 1924. That year, Lake Wisconsin was created. The lake now has a maximum depth of 40 feet along with more than 55 miles of shoreline. The early Indian tribes in the area began fishing and hunting on the lake; it has now become a popular tourist destination for fishing, camping, hunting, boating, swimming and much more. Surrounding the area are resorts, taverns, motels, campgrounds and dining restaurants for visitors and/or tourists.
