The attractions of Nebraska are as varied as its weather, and sometimes the hidden gems are the best part: for instance, in some areas of the Cornhusker State, the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) are visible during the wintertime! From the great prairies of pioneer country to the arts and culture of metropolitan areas like Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska offers a plethora of things to do and see. Check out the Strategic Air and Space Museum in Ashland, which houses a huge permanent collection of famous aircraft (and spacecraft!). Or, take a walk through the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha: with its gorillas, orangutans, penguins, bears and elephants, this family-friendly zoo is also home of the world’s largest nocturnal exhibit. However, it is the natural and wild portions of Nebraska that are most impressive; the valleys, great plains, steppes, and sandhills are perfect for exploring, taking a drive through, or getting to know better through Nebraska’s agri-tourism program.
