Lake Oconee vacation rentals are just outside of Greensboro, Georgia. The lake is 45 miles south of Athens and about an hour from Atlanta. The nearby golf course, The Oconee Course at Reynolds Plantation, will be the home of the 2007 PGA Cup.

 | | As the second largest lake in Georgia, Lake Oconee covers almost 19,000 acres and has 374 miles of shoreline. While much of Lake Oconee has been developed, a large section of the lake is part of the Oconee National Forest and remains entirely unspoiled.
The three other parks around the lake are Lawrence Shoals, Old Salem, and Park’s Ferry. Each park has picnic areas, a playground, a boat ramp, a beach with a bathhouse and a pavilion that can be reserved for large groups. While on the water, Lake Oconee visitors enjoy boating, water sports, jet-skiing, and especially fishing. Oconee is very well known for its excellent fishing opportunities. Its waters are home to an abundance of black crappie, bream, channel catfish, and a variety of bass. Duck hunters will also find plenty of wood ducks, mallard, and teal around the shores of Lake Oconee. If you feel like hitting the links, the area is also home to 2 public golf courses.
