Description
True SKI-IN/OUT 4BR newly-renovated; decorated private home is located directly on the Upper Tyro slope at Wintergreen. Seriously, you can step out of the house and into your skis. In summer, the slopes offer access to many activities such as mountain-biking, the Spartan Games, hiking, fishing, music/art festivals and fireworks-viewing from the top of Tyro.

With a level parking area for 4-5 cars, no steep stairs to climb or descend, covered front porch entry and Direct on the slope location; 22 Tyro has the best family location on the entire mountain. The Lodge, Market, The Edge, Coppermine and shopping are all within an easy 10 minute walk from this home. Even the trash/recycling center is convenient (less than 100 yard walk)!

The sun rises each morning over the end of Tyro and at night the lights come on for night skiing until 10PM (weekends and holidays only).

General Features:

4 Bedrooms; each with a queen bed, (4) new pillows and 2 sets of sheets, bedspread as well as a down-filled duvet. In the bunkroom, there are also (2) sets of bunk beds (4 twins) for children or young adults on the bottom bunks. ALL bedrooms have night tables with lamps and folding luggage stands.

There are only two large bathrooms in the house; however each one is tiled...with glass-enclosed shower. The Rinnai tankless propane hot water heater provides endless hot water so that no one ever has a cold shower. Plenty of towels are provided. Casement windows with screens offer an opportunity to open up the house on cool summer/fall evenings. Unique in Wintergreen is having A/C to keep the house from being muggy in spring/summer and fall. Most homes here don't have A/C, and except for the humidity..they usually don't need it.

First Floor

1. The entry foyer/mudroom/laundry offers a thermostat-controlled radiant heated blue-stone floor and coat hooks all around. Front-loading washer/dryer with many shelves over top for helmets and gloves. Two long, granite-topped benches for putting on ski-boots....and plenty of room under the benches for street shoes and winter boots.

2. The dining table has seats for 10 (middle leaf is in the closet). Elkhorn center piece with candles; place mats, napkins, etc.

3. A fully stocked kitchen with double-oven, side-by-side refrigerator, counter-mounted steamer/pasta-maker, Keurig coffee-maker, toaster, blender, can opener and under-cabinet lighting. Disposal, dishwasher and large stainless double-sink. Dry spices, trash bags, paper towels, laundry detergent, dish-washing liquid and toilet paper provided.

4. Living area offers a 3-cushion couch, 2-cushion loveseat and single upholstered chair with large coffee table. Coffee table top rises to provide dining table for loveseat! Gas fireplace turns on and off with a wall switch (no fiddling with knobs or ignitors). Floor lamp for reading and dimmable ceiling down-lights for movie time. HDTV TV with Nelson Cable, DVD player and APPLE TV. Dyson canister vacuum in closet under stairs. Heated/cooled by fireplace, baseboard and Fujitsu mini-split unit.

5. Office area includes an office armoire with Apple Mac-Mini and dual screen monitors with wired internet (faster speed) for the person who has to work while on vacation. Board games, binoculars, books for those who don't ski or hike and want to relax.

6. First-floor queen master suite offers a large closet, large bathroom with radiant-heat tiled floor. Bedroom heated with baseboard heating.

7. A sliding glass door opens to a covered porch on the east with 4 adirondack chairs, cushioned loveseat and our (gas) BBQ. Porch is railed so that little ones cannot wander while we leave the door open in summer.

8. Large multi-windowed sunroom faces the slopes, has sliding glass doors at each end to the firepit as well as to the covered porch; and offers an HDTV with cable; Netflix as well as motorized leather recliners (1 loveseat and 2 chairs). We also have two smaller swivel tub chairs for conversation; and heavy faux-fur blankets for taking outside to sit around the gas fire pit. This room also has a radiant-heat tiled floor and is heated/cooled by a Fujitsu mini-split system.

10. Gas firepit and patio with (4) adirondack chairs and (1) teak loveseat with cushions. If the weather is right, this is a great spot to enjoy apres-ski or cocktail hour...year round.

Second Floor

1. Second-floor vaulted ceiling master queen bedroom has (7) screened casement windows overlooking the slopes as well as a sliding-glass door to the upper private railed porch. Shared bathroom. This bedroom is heated/cooled with remote-controlled Fujitsu mini-split system. Also has a wall-mounted flat-screen TV with Nelson Cable (not HD, but good cable signal).

2. Second-floor queen bedroom (smaller) has closets and is heated with baseboard heating.

3. Second-floor bunkroom has a queen bed and (2) sets of bunkbeds (4 twin mattresses). This bedroom is heated/cooled with both baseboard and remote-controlled Fujitsu mini-split system. Folding doors overlook dining area (with safety rail). Sliding glass doors open to the upper private railed porch (over top of the one beneath). Wall-mounted HDTV with Nelson Cable for kids.

4. Bathroom for these three bathrooms is large and nicely finished, shower only and enjoys the unlimited hot water. It also overlooks the slopes!

The icing on the cake is that we are one of only about a dozen (non-pedestal) homes that have true Ski In/Out....and we are one of only a very few that can do that directly from the main living level without a whole lot of climbing of stairs. You can watch your children or grandchildren ski from the warmth of the house..maybe even take them a hot chocolate while they are still in their skis!

For these reason, you will find that this home is priced more expensively than others that don't have those amenities or features. Of course, we did have to pay more for this home than those others...so that is the trade-off. I hope that you will consider 22 Tyro for your family. I can promise you that you will remember it!
