Pike Lake

Located about 25 miles northwest of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the Kettle Moraine State Forest, Pike Lake is a favorite lake for boating and fishing. Pike Lake got its name from the ample supply of walleye pike in the waters, but is also home to northern pike, pan fish and bass. In the summer months a swimming beach is available at Pike Lake State Park. The park also offers many picnic areas, a playground, and a public campground (complete with picnic table, fire pit and tent pad). |

Hiking is a popular activity at the lake and there are many trails to enjoy. Along one trail you can find yourself in marsh, forest, prairie, and even glacial terrain. One popular trail is the short hike up to Powder Hill, where in 2001 a 60 foot observatory tower was built from which visitors can enjoy a fantastic view of the lake. While secluded and serene the lake is only a short drive from the metropolitan hub of Milwaukee offering guests the best of both worlds. Cross country skiing is a popular wintertime activity.
