Okauchee Lake

Okauchee Lake is one of the largest Lake Country lakes, with 13 miles of pristine, meandering shoreline. It's located within the boundaries of the towns of Oconomowoc and Merton and offers excellent water quality and fishing throughout the year. You'll find numerous taverns and restaurants dotting the shoreline as you make you're way around the lake, many with boat access. Plus, there's an abundance of social events throughout peak season. Okauchee Lake has numerous bays and inlets where anglers can relax and catch largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, crappie, white bass and bluegill. You'll find a public boat launch off Highway 16, on the southwest shore. If you're at the lake during the winter, you'll find ice fishing, ice skating, ice boating, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Snowshoeing is a great family sport suitable for a wide variety of ages. Snowshoe rentals are easily available from outfitters. There are also miles of groomed snowmobile trails and trails for cross country skiing. Winter is a great time to visit Okauchee--the crowds are gone, yet you still have access to restaurants and taverns that service the local population.
