Norris Lake

With approximately 800 miles of shoreline, Norris Lake has plenty of shoreline for everyone. The surface area of the lake is greater than 34,000 acres and the watershed area for Norris Lake covers 2,912 square miles. The lake is formed by Norris Dam, a 265 feet high and 1,860 feet long dam that is located on the Clinch River. It helps generates electricity, control floods, and maintain depth on the Tennessee River. Other than producing electricity, Lake Norris is great for swimming, boating, fishing, and other water recreation activities. Fishing is great because of the clear deep water that produces excellent fish. For example, bass, walleye and rock fish are popular catches at the lake. One could also visit museums, take time to go on a scenic hiking trail, or soak the sun while catching trout or canoeing below the dam.
