Keuka Lake is one of the 11 Finger Lakes of central New York. The name Keuka means “canoe landing,â€쳌 but the lake has garnered other nicknames as well, including “Crooked Lakeâ€쳌 for its shape and “Lady of the Lakesâ€쳌 for its natural beauty. The 20 mile long lake is great for boating and fishing, especially for lake trout and smallmouth bass. There are public access sites along the shoreline, including the boat launches at Keuka Lake State Park. Other features of the park include a beach, a playground, a pavilion, picnic areas, hunting, cross country skiing, and snowmobile trials. Keuka Lake is the only one of the Finger Lake which drains into another (Seneca Lake). This unique feature allows visitors to walk along the Keuka Lake Outlet Trail and see many waterfalls and historic remnants. The Finger Lake region is particularly known for its many excellent wineries. |
