Leech Lake

Leech Lake is the third largest lake in Minnesota formed by a dam built in 1884. Leech fills a basin made up of about 14 natural lakes and is located in the Chippewa National Forest. Leech Lake is known for producing some of the largest freshwater fish in the country, most notably walleye, largemouth bass, and muskellunge. Visit in February and be part of the annual Eel Pout Festival. The event includes formal dinners, sport tournaments, and fishing competitions. With its beautiful scenery and exciting activities Leech Lake makes for a great vacation year round.
