Kentucky Lake was created in 1944 by the Kentucky Dam of the Tennessee River. With 160,000 acres and 2,300 miles of shoreline, Kentucky Lake is the largest artificial lake by surface area in the United States east of the Mississippi River. To create this enormous reservoir entire towns, homes, roads and railroad lines had to be moved. Kentucky Lake has adventure and a chance for one to get away from their everyday routines. It is large enough to accommodate water activities such as boating, water-skiing, swimming, fishing and jet-skiing. If you prefer to stay on land, you could enjoy the wildlife, shopping, dining and antiques & crafts. Kentucky Lake should be your choice for your next vacation because there is so much to see and do, during whatever season and for whatever reason, this is one of the world's largest man-made lakes. |
