Stayed for 4 days in February, 2011 We loved everything about staying at the Shire-- great floor plan, wonderful family area, totally clean, beautiful view, plenty big for three families-- except the fact that the street wasn't plowed when we got there. Our party couldn't get into the property for the first 24 hours of the rental. Now, I'm sure this would only be a problem for the two snowiest weekends of the year, but we happened to be there during one of them. My siblings and I went up with our kids 8 adults and four children(ages 2 through 11). The house was beautiful inside and out. Plenty of room to hang out and relax. The backyard is really big and slopes downward, exactly what we wanted for winter play. We spent our entire stay playing/sledding outside - we never had to leave the property. It's gorgeous, huge, beautifully designed, and looks like it was built yesterday -- it's pristine. It's less than 20 minutes from almost all north lake resorts, and has a HUGE backyard, great for sledding with kids.The only complaint was with the furniture; both the bar stools and dining chairs tip over easily, and several adults and kids took a spill.
