Stayed for 4 days in April, 2011 Here's a list of the issues we encountered during our stay there: 1. Creaky doors (we had to buy W-D 40 and oiled hinges). 2. Bathroom door was warped and difficult to close. The hook/eye latch was totally unacceptable for a rental unit. 3. Lack of seating for 6 adults in living space or around kitchen table or upper deck. 4. DVD player location over stairs,~ not able to reach without walking out onto stair ledge, had to move to be able to use system. This is hazardous and again totally unacceptable for a rental unit. 5. The main bed was not sturdy. When you leaned against a post, the whole unit moved. 6. No banister on stairs to the basement. 7. Stair risers to the basement were uneven. 8. No 'bedroom' as advertised. 9. General lack of cleanliness of floors, downstairs, and indoor tub (dead bugs in it). 10. No street sign for Magic Kingdom drive. 11. 3 of 6 bulbs in lower level not working. 12. Dead batteries in remote. 13. We shouldn't have had to repeatedly go to office for clean towels, etc. 14. No recycling option for trash. 15. No hangers. 16. Bathroom could have used a full sized towel bar. 17. Kitchen towels were grungy; dirty towels used to clean were left on kitchen chair. 18. Found a dirty blanket in dresser drawer with an unmatched sock and unmatched slipper. 19. Unacceptable not to have linens for the two additional beds. 20. Too much 'stuff' on surfaces (had to move brickabrack to set anything down) 21. No dinner service for 6 (plates, cutlery short). 22. Cat pee/musty order of basement. 23. No exhaust fan over stove. 24. Location of fuse box/circuit breakers unknown in case of emergency. 25. Had to move stools around every time we needed to get to the refrigerator. 26. Strong sulfur smell in the water; it was so bad that several of us gagged at just the smell. 27. We basically bathed in the hot tub because the shower/jacuzzi water smelled so bad and left a slimy feel to our skin. This cabin has NO view. At a glance the pictures do not let on that the entire top level is a studio with a wide-open floor plan consisting of a kitchen, living area, bed, and jacuzzi. The dog in the neighboring home barked continuously. When we complained about the barking to the office staff, we were told that we should leave a note on the door or go over and ask them to keep their dog quiet ourselves. At no time were we offered another cabin or a solution. We will not be using this company again. It turned out that somehow a mistake was made over the phone, and we we had to leave 1 night early. It was a missunderstanding, on my part and we were out by five that evening. American Mountain Rentals still charged us for that night, even though we were not there. The heating in the downstairs Gameroom sucked too! also it is not safe for small children. The stairs were very steep, and a small child could fall through easily. As usualy some stuff (like faucet handles) we found to be broken upon arival. The cabin is located in a quite street next to other rental cabins however is far from the attractions, in the country side, not a great view.the main bed is beutifull made of timber logs but is sitting in the living room next to the hot tub. The website claimed this to be a 1 bedroom when it was really a studio. The bed is right by the front door and the jacuzzi is on the other side of the bed, so there is no privacy. It's fine for a couple, but not so good for a family. This cabin also has no internet access and the closet is so small I could not hang my dress in it due to the length of the dress (knee length on me). Furthermore, every time we ran the water, the entire cabin filled with a rotten egg smell. We called the front desk only to learn that they knew all about it and happily informed us it was just sulfur water and there was nothing we could do. Have they not ever heard of a water filter?? My husband and I did enjoy our stay, but I was very disappointed with the misrepresentation on the internet at the time of booking. Be very leary of what you are told on their website. It's like they have a basic description that they use for every cabin and don't change certain necessary details. The staff was very helpful during the reservation process. The problem came in when we turned the water on. The water had an ordor bad enough that I would not even give it to our dogs. The second issue was I called and left a message at the office as well as the emergency number at approximately 11:45 PM and said I needed someone to call me ASAP. No one called me back until 10:00 AM the next morning even though they open at 9:00. I express my complete dissatisfation with this issue and I was not offer any solution or a change for the second night. I was only told that it was well water, that it was filtered and it was perfectly safe. We went thru a tremendous amount of bottled water. I can't tell you how foul it was to take a shower in that water. I know why there is for sale sign out front of this property. It was also listed for accomodations up to 6 people...very husband and I had no privacy whatsoever. The bed is in the middle of the living area, right bedside the pull-out sofa, and the jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom was never used as it was in the corner of the living area. The water smelled of sulfur, brushing your teeth first thing of the morning was a gagging experience. The hot tub could only accomodate 2 people, and again you smelled of boiled eggs upon getting out. The game room had a fairly nice pool table, only 2 pool sticks, and the rack was broken. The tv in game room was small. The signal on the tv faded in and out the majority of the time so you missed half of the show you were watching. The kitchen was poorly stocked. The front porch was nice, we enjoyed the 2 rockers. Should only be advertised for the couples only. Not a great place for a family. Oh, yeah, the yard sucked!! The first was after driving 7 hours, the lock on the door did not work. The battery was dead and so i had to wait 30 minutes for the housekeeper to change the batteries. The second comment was about the bathroom. The door to the bathroom would not close all the way and if someone walked by, they could see into the bathroom while you were in their. As we chowed on turkey sandwiches at a rest stop on Thanksgiving Day, we missed momma's home cooking, but what a wonderful trip. We travel with a four-legged friend, and it's not always easy to find a nice place that is pet friendly. This cabin was perfect. Very nice. Very clean. We loaded in on Thanksgiving day and with the exception of an afternoon hike, we held up in the quiet secluded little place all weekend. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and pool table -- luxuries we don't have home. It was a rainey weekend, but no worries; we were as content as could be. A real wood burning fireplace would have been nice, but I would still highly recommend this place. Stayed for 5 days in June, 2008 the water pressure was awful, and it tasted funny, and the description and pictures of the property are misleading. it makes you think the bedroom area is seperate, but its not, the bed and living room area and bathtub are all in the same room which i was dissapointed with, also we found several roaches, and the property itself is 7 or 8 miles away from the town of pigoen forge which is also left out of the description. other than that, we had a great time, but i probally would not stay here again. also we had to leave a day early, and you dont get your money back for time unused which was a bummer. Needs some attention A guest from miami, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in May, 2008 Shower in this cabin would run out of sufficient water. The water would run down to a trickle before a shower was completed at times. The shower is very small. The indoor jacuzzi could not be utilized because the tub "stopper" was defective and therefore water would not stay in the tub. Outdoor hot tub interior design is such that it only holds one person comfortably, had the interior seat design of the hot tub been different, its size would have accomodated up to 2 people comfortably. Also, I would have liked the cabin set up better had the bedroom been downstairs where the pool table is, that way it would have been more private. The TV and VCR is in an alcove over the staircase going downstairs which makes it dangerous to lean over railing (which is not sturdy) to put in DVD's or manually turn the set off as the remote will not turn the TV set off. Talked to someone in management, and they were like, so what, there is nothing we can do about it. We should have looked more carefully on the internet. What kind of customer service is that? We will not stay with American Mountain Rentals any more. There are plenty of other rental companies to choose from. Most of your cabins are really nice, but your customer service is very lacking.
