The view is spectacular and can be viewed in a number of relaxing favorite being the hammock, but also enjoyed the hot tub and swing and also enjoyed eating and drinking cocktails outside. Because of treefall, the cabin is not as secluded as it was before; the cabin up the mountain can plainly see the decks. We could not get the DVD player to work in our bedroom. That has not always been the case when renting a property off the internet. Our cabin was spotless and had been tastefully decorated for Christmas, which was a nice surprise. We wanted some extra towels so when I saw the cleaning crew at a neighboring cabin I went and talked with them. They were very friendly and considerate and were very willing to help make our stay the best it could be. These cabins are typically on VERY steep and narrow roads, which made turning our crew cab, long bed truck around a task. Smaller vehicles are easier to maneuver and park. The bed was very uncomfotable, well used, and there were only two usable pillows. The firplace in the bedroom only worked with the remote, all knobs were broken on it. We were told the unit was private, only to find out again we were misled and that other cabins were within yards of us. The couch was in such poor condition that we didn't sit on it. Very comfortable bed. Enjoyed hot tub. Great porches. The only negative things were that it was infested by ladybugs the whole time. We called to report it the first afternoon and someone was sent out to vacume them up. They kept returning each day. It was the season for them, but they shouldn't have been able to come through every window. They were in the bed and bed side tables. I don't think the cabin was well built. The cabin smelled like mold. We bought candles and spray to cover the smell. It was clean. It just smelled moldy and wasn't air tight enough to keep the bugs out. I would suggest two things, though. First -- please be aware of the road conditions and know the alternative routes that can save visitors hours off the trip. Because we were not informed about roads being closed (441 and 40) and because the receptionist (whom we called when we realized the road had closed) was only familiar with one alternative route to the property, we were detoured over 4 hours and ended up having to stay at a hotel. We lost one of our nights at the cabin (without refund or compensation) because of the breakdown in communication of information. That was disappointing.The second thing -- fairly minor -- was that there isn't enough hot water in the hot water heater to fill the jacuzzi. Thanks! We were somewhat disappointed in how close the cabin next to us was, primarily because their deck looked right over our eating and hot tub area. We also were surprised considering how nice the cabin was that the living room furniture was not. The sofa and chair were uncomfortable to sit on. I was glad that no one had to sleep on the pull out bed. Finally, there was an odd odor in the cabin that smelled strong especially when entering the cabin. It was a very sour smell...perhaps from previous pets that had been there ? We never did figure it out. All that said.... the downstairs bedroom area was lovely, the kitchen more than sufficient and the views amazing. Management Was Good. But, the propertys were Dusty and dirty! A guest from Odessa, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in July, 2009 The ladies at the desk at the Check In location were great, very helpful! The first Cabin checked into had a great view and that was about it. You could tell that either no one had stayed at this cabin for a long time or the cleaning company was not doing a great job. There were dead bugs on the fire place mantle and behind every piece of furniture, a majority of everything was dusty and there were some cob webs. After the first night, we complained to the check in office and they moved us to a new cabin with less of a view. At the second cabin it was not as dusty but there was cob webs in plain site, while playing pool, I noticed a foul smell coming from the air vent in the floor, but it was too late for us to want to complain and move cabins a second time, if I turned the A/C on the smell would take over the cabin, about 6:00 AM the next morning we heard loud scratching in the wall below the vent by the pool table, so we assume the smell came from an animal living in the wall. We reported it to the Check In office and they said it could be a Flying Squirrel? But we only had one more night at the cabin and the Check In office did not offer for us to move to a better cabin. But over all, the front desk was very Nice and Helpful, but, I think there is a lack of communication/supervision of the Cleaning crews for American Mountain Rentals. Everything was very clean and we had everything we needed. The location was very convenient with a gas station store right at the foot of the mountain and a Kroger within a few miles. It is also very close to the main drag and the property management company. These became very important factors after a long drive and a lot of traffic to sit in what with the holiday crowds. I was not told at check in that this cabin was pet friendly or I wouldn't have rented it. The sheets were dirty, the blankets were covered with dog hair and the cabin had an investation of lady bugs! I contacted the manager and made him aware and he offered no help or compensation!!! The wonderful experience I had the first stay with this company was erased buy this stay, and the worst part was this was my honeymoon and I spent a large portion of time vacuuming ladybugs and dog hair instead of spending time with my wife. Other than the water we had a wonderful stay. The cabin was beautiful and the views were amazing. This is the fourth cabin we have rented in Pigeon Forge and it is our favorite. We will probably return! The location of the cabin was perfect for us, it was very convenient to the strip. The view was spectacular and breath-taking. We were a little uneasy about the steep hill up to the cabin but once we drove up it, we had no problems. the cabin was in a perfect location for shopping and dining in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Wish the fireplace was real and the water smells like surfur was the only down side. The kitchen is well stocked with items including a wine opener. The hot tub on the deck is great for watching the sunsets and the hammock with a great cup of coffee for the sunrises. Kroger is not far so we cooked in the entire time. I was very pleased. The view was great! When we asked the staff questions they knew the answer and were very helpful. We did have a slight bug problem in our cabin, which we were understanding of since we were in the mountains surrounded by trees. This problem in no way hindered our visit. I would rent from them again. We had a very nice trip and I hated to say goodbye to the cabin! However, prior to checking in I was never told about the possibility of scorpions. We saw a note about the scorpion problem once we arrived at the cabin, and I thought that was just precautionary. Our first night there, I was proved wrong. I was stung by a scorpion in the middle of the night. Yes, it was in bed with me. They did come and spray the next morning, and it did take care of the problem. Overall though, the cabin was clean and nice. But the highlight was always returning to the 'Sweet'. Very nice, very clean, and very quiet. Good bed, clean bath, nice wrap around lanai with soothing hot tub, cute 'hello gift',and let's not forget the wonderful view. The only little thing was that tremendous sharp turn into the driveway. If you're operating a Honda Goldwing (big bike) and a not so small wife (me), it looks intimidating but at least you improve your driving chops. No big feat, as I said, it's only a little thing.
