We stayed a week and cooked for the family. Great kitchen, but no serving dishes, pans in bad shape. And the ants were horrible. No food was left out for our entire stay, but ants were still on the cabinets, pantry,etc. Had to put paper plates, etc in fridge. The management explained ants were bad and sent over sprat, but it did not help. They were really BAD. No chairs on porch as other houses had. No back yard at all if you are looking for a back yard, and no gas grill. Overall, visit was great, beach wonderful, but wouldn't stay at this house again. I would use Port Aransas escapes again. They were very nice. And forgot to mention, not enough towels or washcloths for 6 people. The house is very cute, nicely decorated, nicely painted. It was nice and clean and well maintained. It is bigger than it looks in the pictures and was a nice layout, plenty of space for our 2 year old who loves to run around. The negatives were small but noticeable things: LOTS of ants in the master bath and the kitchen, we bough ant traps , the ice maker in the fridge does not work and hasn't for quite a long time if you read the other comments in the guest book, and a lot of the silverware is flimsy & starting to rust. Also the house did not have some basics that would've been helpful like tin foil, salt and pepper that it seems silly for every family renting to go and buy, but I guess we will just bring those next time. We really love the house, the location and Port A. Unfortunately, the beds in the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms were extremely uncomfortable. It truly made the days hard when the sleep was so bad. The auto reply email for my online reservation said a reservationist would contact me to confirm. No one called so after more than a month I had to call to nail down the details. It supposedly took 5 hours to clean the place when they knew we were waiting to get in. While we arrived early it would have been nice for them to be more accomodating.Those are nits. Stayed for 6 days in May, 2009 This was our first family vacation with 2 little girls (2yrs and 7 months) along with our 2 dogs. We live in San Antonio so it was a short drive for us. The house was great - there was plenty of room for us all and all the comforts on home. Since our girls are so small we drove to the beach as the walk and steps along the boardwalk were a bit much at their age. It was great having the family pool across the street for us too. My husband loves golf and with the course only a mile away he was able to play quite a bit while we were there. Only a short drive down to the shops and restaurants too. It was a quiet area and really nice at night to sit out on the patio with the sea breeze blowing. Would definitely recommend this place and would stay there again.
