Truely a Retreat! A guest from Latrobe, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2012 House was fantastic- plenty of room, wonderful lake views, loved the back deck and hot tub. Kitchen was nicely stocked. The kids enjoyed fishing from the dock, even though is was on land for the winter. We expected a gas grill and found a charcoal grill. There was only one negative- It was obvious that the property had been vacant for awhile. There were spiders and spider webs, lady bugs and wasps, too. But otherwise it was a fabulous trip! Nature's Retreat A guest from Fairfax, VA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2012 - The entertainment room was very cold. This was due to the fact that the thermostat was in the section of the house where only the owner had access to. As a result we could not turn on the heat for that room. It was so cold we were not able to use the sofa bed or TV in that room.- We noticed mouse traps in a couple of places, which was not very appealing!- The pool table has a missing ball, which was very disappointing for some people in our group who counted on the pool table based on the property description.- On the night of our arrival, the water was shut down. My guess is that it was because of the cold weather. It was extremely inconvenient. It was fine the next morning, otherwise we had to visit the visitor center to resolve the issue. - We visit Deep Creek Lake a couple of times a year, and we had rented other properties from Taylor-Made in the past. Nature's Retreat is in a good location with a nice view, but there are much better properties offered by Taylor-Made that are actually cheaper. - We won't choose Nature's retreat in the future and we won't recommend it to our friends. Beautiful location and home with heating problems in cool weather A guest from Westminster, MD does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in October, 2011 We loved almost everything about this home and the location. Beautiful wooded lot right to the lake. Best views. BUT the heat in the house was unbearable. Set at 68 degrees makes the main room fine, but the heat was trapped in upper levels to sauna levels. Had to open windows and turn off heat at 3 am. Should have different zones for upper floor. Made 3 of 5 bedrooms uncomfortable to say the least. Afraid to leave a baby in the rooms. If this was fixed I would recommend to friend. OR suggest going in months that don't require heating the home. Did love the drive into the home, and the views. Could use a bigger TV. Not used to such a small screen. Bedrooms did not get good reception unless you had the one with the cable box. So 3 tvs had cable. Suggest bringing a sharp knife if you are going to cook. THey have good selection of cooking pans etc. Great parking. Bring extra towels and face cloths unless you want to wash everyday. Taylor-made was very easy to work with.
