THE OWNERS HAVE TRIED TO PROVIDE EVERYTHING you'll need during your time in Hawaii. The condo has a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and microwave and an entertainment center with a large flat-panel high-definition cable TV, DVD, and stereo with CD. For those unusually hot days when Maui's trade winds aren't enough to keep you comfortable, the living area has an air conditioner.

THE POPULAR KIHEI AKAHI COMPLEX is located directly across from Kamaole II Beach Park, one of Kihei's best swimming beaches. It is about a 6-minute walk from Makai Vista to the beach.

PHOTOS JUST CAN'T CAPTURE THE WONDERFUL VIEW from the lanai (balcony). Kihei Akahi offers very nice grounds with tropical landscaping, two pools, gas barbecues and tennis court. The four buildings in the complex are all different and set well apart from each other within Kihei Akahi's lush grounds, so the complex feels uncrowded and relaxed. The D building is set back several hundred feet from South Kihei Road so you don't see the road and rarely hear any traffic noise. The complex is walking distance to shops and restaurants. Wailea, Maui's luxury golf and resort area, is about a mile away.

Our stay was AMAZING!!!! The place is brand new and beautiful! Super clean too! Even the elevators were fast... The location is perfect - walk most anywhere in Kihei, or jump in the car for a couple minutes and you are in Wailea. Zip up to Foodland for the most delicious poke. Ate it every day. Yum! We will be recommending this property to our sister-in law for her honeymoon stay as well. We will be back. It really was great. Stayed for 10 days in October, 2010 Having been in property management I might be too critical. First I'd like to say that the location was great and the sunsets wonderful. The kitchen was more than expected - well stocked and modern.What I didn't expect was holes in sheets, loose water faucets in the bathroom sink and tub, footprints on wall, stains on the kitchen ceiling, and a general lack of cleaning. We were staying 10 days and felt that the unit should have been in better shape than it was. It might be run down due to over use. I think that there should be a review by the management company to ensure that the units look like the pictures and that the cleaning people are doing their job. I know that it's not an easy job to clean places over and over again, but that's still no excuse for the lack of cleanliness.Also, I didn't know that I would have to provide my own toilet tissue once we ran out. However, upon a closer look, we found dust everywhere - under the beds, behind the furniture, along all the picture frames and lamps. We think that the whole unit needs a good and thorough cleaning. We also found that the unit was beginning to look "tired", i.e. the patio doors were very dirty, the kitchen cupboards were quite dirty inside, including the floor in the cupboard where the brooms and garbage can was kept. The description said there was one in the bedroom but we sure couldn't find it. There was at least 10 degrees difference from the living room to the bedroom. It was very hot and muggy and we had to spend the night in the living room where the a/c was, on the sofa bed with a metal bar poking us in the back. And even then it was inadequate. We couldn?t stand it and left the next day. We went to a hotel where the a/c actually worked. We will never ever stay in someone?s condo again. Very disappointing and very expensive. I paid 500.00 to spend one miserable night on a sofa bed. I understand that it wasn?t their fault that the weather was muggy, but you know what, it wasn?t my fault either. NEVER EVER AGAIN. I gave it a 1 star rating only because I couldn?t give it zero stars. Property Manager Response: We installed a large 12000 BTU air conditioner in the D-614 living area, larger than the 10000 BTU unit recommended for the condo's size and enough to get the temperature into the 60s if you want to. We never imply the bedroom has an air conditioner, but even if there is a 10-degree difference between the living room and bedroom on a hot night, the bedroom is still comfortable for most guests. These guests were apparently exceptionally sensitive to the tropical climate and unfortunately happened to arrive on an unusually muggy day. Just a few hours after the guests decided to leave, the winds shifted, the temperature cooled, and the entire environment became comfortable even without air conditioning. (I was staying in a unit without A/C just down the hall.) Most guests appreciate having the extra space and convenience of an entire condo for less than the cost of a typical hotel room, and we sincerely regret that these guests were not able to enjoy D-614 because of one bad weather day. Besides the panorama, we were away from the traffic on Kihei Rd. The beach is a very short walk and the pool was very convenient. The condo was very well-stocked with conveninences, including the beach chairs and mats. There were only two beach towels so that would be something to improve on, and no kleenex, which would have been nice. But everything else was clean, comfortable and thoughtful. The condo unit and complex was one of the best in location A guest from Calgary, AB recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2009 Located on the top floor of the highest complex on the grounds, it had an unobstructed view of the ocean, Molokini, and sunsets. The condo unit and complex was one of the best in location. The complex was located in close walking distance to shops, restaurants, and a beach practically at your door step. This was a bonus since parking at many beach areas was difficult to find. One could just park at the condo and walk to the beach, complete with lifeguard, washrooms, and outdoor shower. The condo unit was clean, nicely decorated, and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable -- no restless nights!. The automatic ice maker on the fridge was great and the unit came equipped with beach chairs, umbrella, mats - a bonus. Also, it was very pleasant to have a quiet complex -- no parties, it was very much a quiet adult getaway. A female travelling alone, I felt very safe in the complex and Kihei area and had no problems walking alone at dusk. The grounds are patrolled regularly with security staff on golf carts and they are very attentive to their duties. The minor negatives of the unit would be that the ledge above the bedroom was very dirty/dusty from the screen window 'vents' and should be cleaned more regularly, the bathroom caulking is showing its age, and the screen door on the balcony would not close or lock and the screen was ripped by the handle allowing potential bugs into the unit. Second, arriving at night, it was very frustrating trying to find the complex as reading the road signs at night was difficult. A map would have been very beneficial with landmarks identified as well as a map of the complex in relation to others on the grounds. Security had to help me find the complex. Overall, these were minor issues and did not impact my overall stay which was good. I would definitely stay at this condo unit again.
