Bed Bugs!!!!!! Laura M. from Louis, KY recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2012 I really enjoyed my stay, everything was nice. My daughter really enjoyed herself, until we got home and I had to take her to the doctor, cause she had bites all over her, the doctor said she had bed bug bites. I called the owner , and told her she was really nice about it, she did refund me 1 nights stay? Even though I know that the doctor's visit, and the medicine I had to purchase was more, but that was nice of her, will I use you all again? This was our 1st stay with Alpine. We switched because the properties look very good on the web. Unfortunately, this particular property needs lots of work. The view is awesome, but the chalet is in bad shape. Carpets needs replacing badly. Furniture needs upgrading. The bathrooms are pitiful - 1/2 of mirror missing. One would not hold water. Bathrooms dirty. Light in one did not work. A/C did not work. Beds uncomfortable. Deck needs painting. Maintenance response was slow and unprofesional (e.g. given drain cover for tub versus fixing it, 3 days to fix light, came in unannounced). The chalet' was an older model, but still nice. We did notice it leans quite a bit,but still it didn't pose to much of a problem. I did hit my head about four times on the staircase downstairs while helping my children in the jacuzzi. Ouch... All in all we had a great time and would stay there again if not for the view alone, it was fabulous!!!!! thanks and hopefully we will see you next winter. Should not be on a rental program! A guest from Rossville, Ind. does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2008 The property was FREEZING upon our arrival and showers had to be postponed until the following morning as that's how long it took it to get warm. This chalet leans so much someone has propped up the pool table with whatever was convenient at the time (magazines & such). Questioning if the property is even safe. It could use an indepth cleaning. Cobwebs are all over (look up). Smell from the crud around bathroom toilets is so bad we purchased air freshners. The complete all in one bathrooms are obsolete. Same can be said of the kitchen cabinets, stove & sink. Attic doors and fan in loft area are terribly dirty. The fan in the loft would have helped to distribute the heat but couldn't use it because the dust/dirt would have flown everywhere. I didn't complain at the time because the housekeeping issues are from months if not years of neglect. In addition, the rental contract made it crystal clear it would be a waste of my time. Over the years we've rented 11 properties and have never stayed in such a place. This was our first stay with Alpine Chalet & Condo Rentals and with the condition of this property we are not interested in anything else they may have to offer. We had such a great time and hope we get to come back soon. There was a for sale sign up so I hope we don't lose the opportunity to stay here again if it sells. The trolly does pass right over this chalet every 25 or 30 minutes so that was very exciting for my daughter but I had to get a little used it and once I did it was rather fun to watch it go by. Overall Horrible Condition of the chalet and Unhelpful Staff Karen K. from Maryville, TN does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2008 When first checking in, the gal was not overly friendly. Didn't speak much and seemed reluctant to answer questions or talk in general. Arrived at chalet - looked ok from outside but once we entered, we cleaned before we did anything else. The counters were dirty, had sticky stuff on it so we cleaned with bleach. Dead moths and bugs in cabinets so we ran everything thru the dishwasher before using it. Cupboard liners were filthy and not cleanable due to stickyness so they were taken out and replaced with paper towels as we did not want to put clean dishes we were using back on it. The bedding had grass/seeds UNDER the sheets on the mattress cover. We decided to wash sheets due to condition of everything else in house otherwise we would not have known this. There was a needle in the rug in one bedroom that my husband found with his foot. The other bedroom had used sanitary paper product in the drawer of a small dresser. All furniture looked like it had not been cleaned in quite a while - fingerprints on glass, dust and cup rings. We also cleaned this. Sliding glass door was off track and open. Pool table was filthy - dart board did not work. All windows and blinds were filthy. Spa was filthy - had dirt and sand in bottom. Bathrooms had mold/mildew in showers and along cabinet base by floor. BBQ grill was filthy - we had to clean and use aluminum foil before we could use it. Carpeting was nasty - did not want to walk barefoot on it. Structure of house was not good - all floors were slanted like building was going to go down the hill any day. There was a gap in the wall between our bedroom and the kitchen that looked like it tried to be fixed but just had a piece of slat tacked up that was loose. We made a list of everything that we did, the condition we found the place in and took it to the property management office the next day and advised them of these facts and gave them the list. Unfortunately, we rented it on a cold winter weekend, and the heating system could not keep up. The windows are lose and we froze, especially at night. If the weather was warm, however, it would be nice. The only other issue of note was that the kitchen, living room and bathrooms are small - very small. Stayed for 4 days in November, 2007 I have stayed at severalAlpine properties and was veryndisappointedwith this rental. First it was absolutly filthy. I can not say that enough it was nasty. I do not think the property had ever been dusted or vacuumed. The air was stale you would have though the house hadbeen locked up for years. The Floors were unlevel. It felt like we were sliding of the Mountain. We arrived for a very late check in. We arrived aroud midnihgt and there were no lights at all on the outside of the house. We had to find the door using the light from our cellphones. The hot tub wasn't close to hot. There was never enough hot water. We could only fill the Jacuzzi tub up half way. I will hear about this for years from my Mother -in-Law. I'm glad the weather was warm and sunny, we spent most of our time on the deck. For the money I paid I felt the accomodations could have been nicer. It was my husband's 65th birthday and never having stayed in a chalet in the mountains my adult daughters and I wanted to surprise him. Again, I'm glad the weather was nice and we could be outside. The bathrooms were more like heads you'd find on a boat (having been boat owners, we know). The floor sloped from the middle out to the periphery 360 degrees. There were gaps where the windows and the wood framing met. To me, this condo was fairly old. I would not rent this place again, but I would rent something else.else. No Time For Sergeants! John & Cindy N. from Irvington, AL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2007 We booked this property for our 25th wedding anniversary and had looked forward to this special event. My biggest complaint was that my husband is in the Army Reserves and received a call from his company commander the night we arrived and we had to leave after only one night. We left a detailed message about this problem along with the key in the drop box (since we left at 6:00 a.m.) and asked if it was possible to get a refund for the time we did not stay. In light of the circumstances with my husband being in the military, I had hoped the company would be a little more understanding. I will book my future stays at a hotel, where the management is always accesible in case of problems or emergencies and it is easier to change reservations. Regarding the property: the hot tub was on the ground floor in a cramped area with very narrow stairs leading to it and no view of anything. The bathrooms were very outdated. Thanks for your time.
